And just like that, a new story saw the light. Based on an idea I had years ago, and prompted by the rejection-cum-request-for-more from the Horror Library 4 Anthology, I broke ground on this story in January, on the train to The Hague. Then it lay simmering in my laptop for two months, nagging me with its insistence to be finished. So last night, at last, I conceived the final horrible plot point the story needed, and today I pounded out the 2,000 words it needed for completion. And after a one hour cooling-down period and a single editing run, the story is now with the editor who rejected Prisoner of war*, but wanted to look at something else, if I had it. Well, now, finally, I have.
The story’s title? Engineering.
* Prisoner of war was rejected for the thirteenth time last Friday, btw.
