Wow, that was very nice.
For the first time in months, I’ve done some actual, honest-to-god, unprocrastinating, fast-and-furious writing. ‘What happened while Don was watching the game?’ started the day at 700 words, and achieved complete first-draft status at 5,200. That’s 4,500 words written in a little under 4 hours. It’s good to know I can still do it if I set myself to it.
It’s another truly silly story, after ‘Beans and marbles’ (though some reviewers took that one seriously), ‘Whatever happened to relativity’, and ‘Oenocide’. This one was inspired both by my fascination with automated car park systems, and my sheer incomprehension of sports channel addiction…
Let’s see what my fiancee thinks of this first draft. (Her opinion is especially valuable since I’ve wandered into that great unknown territory of female protagonism.)
New story tomorrow, second draft next week, submission after that… and who knows, maybe another sale…?
